Play the BottleSort colour sorting puzzle for free
BottleSort puts a row of bottles in front of you, each filled with mixed layers of colour. Pour them from one bottle to another until every bottle is either empty or filled to the top with a single colour. If you have played water sort or ball sort puzzles, you will feel at home straight away.
On PanicLines it runs for free in your browser on phone, tablet and PC, and you can start as a guest without signing up. A solver checks every level before you get it, so it can always be solved, and your stars compare your moves with the shortest possible solution.
How pouring works
- Tap the bottle you want to pour from first, then the bottle to pour into.
- You always pour from the top, and the whole top block of one colour goes at once – only onto the same colour or into an empty bottle.
- If there is not enough room, only as much flows over as fits; the rest stays where it is.
- When no move is left you are in a dead end: restart the level. An invalid move costs nothing, the bottle just wobbles.
Difficulty, levels and stars
- Introduction: four mini levels teach the rules one by one, up to your first dead end.
- Three difficulty levels: Easy starts with 4 colours and 2 empty bottles, Medium with 6 colours, Hard with 8. In an endless round things get a little harder every five solved levels – up to 10 colours, a single empty bottle or different bottle sizes (3 to 5 layers).
- Stars: 3 for the shortest solution or close to it, 2 for a few extra moves, 1 for any solution.
- With a PanicLines account you get undo and hints in every level (3 each on Easy, 2 on Medium, 1 on Hard), plus points, a daily streak with a freeze and the leaderboard.
Controls
- Tap the bottles on a phone or tablet, or click them with the mouse.
- Keyboard: 1–9 and 0 pick a bottle, Esc puts it down again. U undoes a move, R restarts the level, H asks for a hint.
- Colour-blind mode in the settings adds a distinct symbol to every colour.
Sorting tips
- Save your empty bottles: an empty bottle is the most valuable space you have. Only fill it when that uncovers a colour or finishes a bottle.
- Look before you pour: find bottles whose top colour already sits on top somewhere else – those moves need no empty bottle.
- Build on big blocks: if a bottle already has a large block of one colour at the bottom, collect that colour there instead of starting a new bottle.
- Avoid back-and-forth: every detour costs stars. Once you notice you are stuck, a restart is often quicker than working your way out.
