Play an arcade game online for free: Panicrush
In Panicrush you hold a track of light with a swarm of glowing sparks against rolling waves of pink panic blobs. The swarm fires forwards by itself. All you decide is which of the three lanes it flies in: which light gates make it grow, which enemies it takes on and which power-ups it picks up. At the end of every wave a boss is waiting.
You play for free in your browser, with no sign-up and nothing to download, on phone, tablet and PC. A wave takes about one to two minutes. Panicrush is made for a phone in portrait mode and for one hand.
How to play
- Switch between three lanes. The swarm only fires into its own lane, and every spark hits.
- Light gates come in rows: +5 or ×2 make the swarm bigger, dark gates with a warning triangle such as −10 or ÷2 weaken it. Every row has at least one gate that does no harm.
- A blob that gets through costs sparks. Once the swarm has gone out, the wave is lost.
- Ten sparks merge into a flame and ten flames into a star, so even a huge swarm stays easy to read.
- At the end of the wave a boss spans all three lanes. It has a weak spot that takes triple damage and moves between lanes. If it reaches the track of light, the wave is lost.
Enemies, bosses and power-ups
- Panic blobs come small in packs, medium and large. Darts switch lanes once and show where they are heading first.
- Shield blobs soak up beams from the front until the shield breaks. Brutes are tough and slow and cover the blobs behind them.
- Five bosses: the Glitch Monster, the three-headed Hydra, the armoured Bulwark, the Battering Ram that lunges forward, and the Hive Queen that lays packs. Below half health they become enraged.
- Power-ups work as soon as you move into their lane: double shot, triple shot into all lanes, a piercing shot through every enemy in the lane, a shield against three breakthroughs, and the nova that hits everything at once.
Game modes
- Campaign: 10 waves, each unlocks the next. From wave 6 on the bosses come back stronger.
- Daily wave: one wave a day, the same for everyone, with three attempts. Play it day after day and beat your best score.
- Endless: waves without end, each harder. The swarm that survives the boss moves on into the next wave.
Controls
- Phone and tablet: put your thumb on the field and drag sideways; a short swipe moves exactly one lane.
- Keyboard: ← → or A D switch lanes, P or Esc pauses. Shooting happens by itself.
- In the settings you can turn music, effects and vibration off separately, pick “Fewer effects” for slow devices, or reduce motion.
Tips
- Grow early: a big swarm from the first rows of gates makes the rest of the wave easier.
- Read the row of gates before you switch: ×2 is worth more than +5 for a big swarm, and the other way round for a small one.
- Stay on brutes before they break through; a breakthrough costs a lot of sparks.
- In a boss fight, follow the weak spot with your lane. It is announced one second before it moves.
